CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) is the special help consisting of chest compression and rescue breathing that should be delivered to the people in cardiac arrest whose hearts stop pumping the blood. In such cases CPR supports some amount of blood flow to the brain and heart. Cardiac arrest is cause as a rule by ventricular fibrillation (VF). VF is abnormal heart rhythm and people with VF need defibrillation that will eliminate the abnormal VF heart rhythm.
